Motion’s CEO Sue Gilpin shares what Motion has planned to enhance care in support of creating an exceptional experience for our clients and care partners in 2024 – including Preventative Maintenance Days, our participation in MapMission Day, Motion Rehab Expo, and the introduction of new Client Ambassadors. Sue is pictured on far right at Motion Kitchener’s Grand Opening Celebration alongside (from left to right) Motion Kitchener Regional Manager Mathew F., Motion client Kevin L., and Kitchener Ward Councillor Scott Davey. As part of our vision to make life accessible for everyone, Motion is continually looking at ways we can enhance our offering and community partnerships for our clients and care partners. In 2024, some of these initiatives include Preventative Maintenance Days for our clients, Motion’s participation as a Community Partner in AccessNow’s MapMission Day, and the return of our Motion Rehab Expos in 12 communities across Canada. We also look forward to sharing the lived experiences of even more Client Ambassadors throughout the year, who I’m happy to introduce below. Preventative Maintenance Days, which were started in 2022, allow clients to schedule appointments on a singular day to receive a complimentary check-up on their mobility equipment (wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers/rollators). While minor adjustments can be made on the spot by our Technicians, these checks also help identify any greater issues that can be addressed in a Service Appointment to ensure our clients don’t experience any unexpected down-time of their equipment. Preventative Maintenance Days will be held on Tuesday, June 11 & Tuesday, October 1, 2024. To book an appointment, visit motioncares.ca/preventative-maintenance/. With International Wheelchair Day (March 1) fast approaching, we’re pleased to announce our upcoming participation as a Community Partner in AccessNow’s MapMission Day – taking place on Sunday, March 24 – as well as two new people who are joining our Client Ambassadors group. On MapMission Day, members of the Motion community will join AccessNow in their goal to make our neighbourhoods more accessible and inclusive by mapping the accessibility of places in our cities – including our 50 Motion locations. Stacey Tetz (pictured below), based in Victoria, BC, and Jessica Oddi (pictured below right), based in Hamilton, ON, join Beau Hayward and Brianna Seewald as fellow Motion Client Ambassadors. We look forward to sharing their lived experiences on our blog in the coming months – stay tuned for Paralympian Stacey’s story first, coming up in March. Stacey Tetz, Motion Client Ambassador Jessica Oddi, Motion Client Ambassador April will mark the return of our industry-leading Motion Rehab Expo event series and we can’t wait to welcome our care partners from across the country for this full-day complimentary education and networking event in 12 cities in 2024. In addition to a keynote presentation at the start of the day, therapists, community partners, and Motion employees will have access to a wide range of device manufacturers to learn about the latest and greatest in mobility and accessibility equipment. Knowledge building for our employees and care partners allows for informed decision making during the equipment provision process and ensures that all care providers are conveying a total equipment solution to enhance the mobility and independence of our clients.
